Louisville Bats News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY-Bats' right fielder Jeff Bannon matched two career highs Monday evening, with four hits and six RBI, propelling Louisville (40-37) to a 12-7 victory over the Pawtucket Red Sox (33-41) Monday evening in front of 7,974 fans.

Bannon reached base in all five at bats, going 4-for-4 with a double and three singles. Cincinnati Reds' outfielder Ryan Freel went 1-for-6, however he laced the go-ahead two-RBI double in the fifth inning to the gap in right center. Freel is now 2-for-10 from the plate since beginning his rehab assignment following an outfield collision with Cincinnati teammate Norris Hopper on May 28.

First baseman Bobby Scales led Pawtucket, going 4-for-4, with three doubles and a RBI. Brandon Moss hit a two-run home run in the fifth, capping a four-run inning, giving the Red Sox a short lived 6-5 lead. The home run was Moss' only hit of the game.

Jason Kershner (5-3, 3.97) gets the win for Louisville. Bats' starter Phil Dumatrait did not factor in the decision, allowing six earned runs on nine hits.

LHP Jon Lester (1-4, 3.78) is credited with the loss for Pawtucket. Lester surrendered eight earned runs and nine hits in 4.1 innings of work.

Louisville welcomes the International League South leading Richmond Braves into town tomorrow night to kick off a four-game series. The Bats are 2-4 against the Braves this season, 1-1 at Louisville Slugger Field. RHP Tom Shearn (3-5, 4.54) takes the mound for the Bats. RHP Blaine Boyer (0-0, 5.40) will start for Richmond. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
