
Bandits Sweep Series with Chiefs

Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The Quad Cities River Bandits took game one of the doubleheader 3-1 and the second 1-0 to sweep the series with their Western Division rivals the Peoria Chiefs.
In the first game the Bandits scored three runs on three hits. Ryde Rodriguez was 1-for-2 with a bases loaded double in the fourth that scored all three runs for the River Bandits. Quad Cities only had two other hits in the contest. D'Marcus Ingram and Ryan Jackson provided those, Jackson's was a double.
Eric Fornataro (2-2) started for the Bandits, allowing just one unearned run in five innings. He struck out three and earned his second victory of the season. Jesse Simpson (4) pitched the sixth and seventh innings to finish the game for Quad Cities. Both innings were scoreless on his way to picking up his fourth save of the season. Nick Struck (1-2) was saddled with his second loss of the year. He allowed all three runs and hits over his five innings.
The Bandits took the second game 1-0. Jorge Rondon was Quad Cities' starter pitching four scoreless, allowing just one hit. Rondon walked three and fanned one. His piggyback partner, Michael Blazek (2-0), pitched the final three picking up his second win of 2010. Blazek punched out four and walked two in his winning effort. Jeff Antigua (0-1) was tagged with his first loss of the season after allowing the lone Bandit run.
Quad Cities scored their only run of the second game in the first inning on an RBI double by Niko Vasquez, part of a 2-for-3 game for the Bandit third baseman. Jason Stidham went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
The River Bandits hit the road after an off-day on Tuesday. Quad Cities will travel to Geneva, Illinois, to take on the Kane County Cougars. Game time for the series opener is set for 6 p.m. Shelby Miller is scheduled to start against fellow right-hander Chris Mederos.
