Lexington County Blowfish News Release

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. - In the bottom of the 6th inning at Lexington County Baseball Stadium the Blowfish led the Savannah Bananas 5-0. What happened next rivaled the post-game fireworks at the stadium.

Bananas' Head Coach Sean West would have a tantrum with home plate umpire Kyle Nichol after arguing balls and strikes that led to West tossing a bucket of baseballs onto the field.

The tirade gave way to an ejection and near 10 minute delay in the sixth but the Blowfish would eventually hold on to beat Savannah 5-3.

Lexington County plated a run in the first on a Chris Singleton (Charleston Southern) sacrifice fly that would bring in Kyle Carruthers (UNC Ashville).

The Blowfish extended their lead in the 4th when Adam Yacek (Miami, OH) came into score on a wild pickoff attempt at first and then another sacrifice fly this time from Clint Carr (Valdosta State) to plate Dalton Duty (Valdosta State).

Lexington County went on to plate two more in the 5th extending the lead to five.

JP Sears (The Citadel) notched his second straight solid performance for the Blowfish, this time going 6 innings in which he only allowed two hits and struck out eight. Sears got his second win on the season for Lexington County.

The Bananas tried to make things interesting in the 9th, but Hayden Deal (Presbyterian) would limit Savannah's damage to only two runs as Lexington County recorded their CPL West leading seventh win of the season.

The Blowfish welcome the Gastonia Grizzlies back to Lexington County Baseball Stadium tomorrow night for the second time. Pregame coverage on z93.1 FM The Lake begins at 6:50p.m. and first pitch is set for 7:05p.m.
