Baltimore Blast News Release
From 2-3 to the Championship:
With a 2-3 record the 2004-05 Blast know better things lie ahead. This is the third consecutive season that the Blast has started the year with a 2-3 record. In each of the last two seasons, the Blast went on to win the MISL Championship despite the slow start. The 2002-03 Blast had a 6-12 record at the midpoint of the season and went on to win eight of the last 11 games to turn the season around at the end. Last season the Blast started 2-3 then went on a six-game win streak and ended the regular season 25-11.
Blast vs. Wave:
Friday night is the first of four matches between the Blast and the Wave this season as well as this year's first rematch of the 2003 and 2004 MISL Championship Series. Milwaukee leads the all-time regular season series between the teams, 26-15 while Baltimore leads the postseason series, 5-2. The teams will meet three more times during the 2004-05 regular season.

Blast vs. Storm:
Saturday night will be the first of four matches between the Blast and the Storm this season and the first of two games between the clubs at 1st Mariner Arena. The Storm is coached by Frank Klopas, a former member of the U.S. National Team, is 2-2 on the season and 1-1 so far when playing on the road.

Baltimore vs. Expansion:
Since the 1992-93 season, Baltimore has encountered seven expansion franchises in the NPSL/MISL. There were 12 teams in the League when Baltimore joined the NPSL for the 1992-93 season. Since that time, the Blast has encountered expansion teams from Tampa Bay (1995-96), Florida (1998-99), two expansion franchises from Toronto (Shooting Stars, 1996-97 and Thunder-Hawks, 2000-01), St. Louis (2003-04), Monterrey (2003-04) and Chicago (began play this season). The Blast went 7-1 last season against the Steamers and Fury and is 18-5 against expansion teams to date.
