Iowa Wolves News Release

DES MOINES, IA. Apr. 3, 2012- The 2011 NBA D-League Champion Iowa Energy missed a three-pointer at the buzzer that would have sent the game to overtime as the Energy dropped a 90-87 decision to the Bakersfield Jam Tuesday night.

Iowa, which trailed by ten at halftime (55-45), rallied in the second half and had a chance to take the lead in with under ten seconds to play. With the Jam clinging to a 88-87 lead, Iowa's Mike Efevberha pulled up from the free throw line only to have his shot deflected by Bakersfield's Renaldo Major.

Iowa fouled Juan Patillo, who made two free throws to extend the Jam lead to 90-87 with 1.0 seconds left.

After an Energy timeout, Iowa sniper Moses Ehambe had a look at the basket from the top of the key, but the shot was off target as the buzzer sounded. The loss drops the Energy to 25-23 on the season. Iowa remains in the 8th and final playoff spot with two games remaining. The Energy continue to control their own destiny for a playoff berth as a pair of wins in the final two games would send Iowa to their 4th consecutive playoff appearance. Even without two wins, there are several scenarios in which the Energy can advance to the postseason.

Efevberha led the Energy with 31 points while Paul Harris added 14 points off the bench.

Guard Jeremy Wise and reserve Juan Pattillo each had 22 points for the Jam, who improve to 28-20 on the year.

Iowa shot only 26.3% from three-point range in the game while Bakersfield made 57.1% of their attempts from beyond the arc.

The Energy head to Sioux Falls for a game Friday night before returning home Saturday night for a 7pm game against Los Angeles. Chicago Bulls mascot Benny the Bull will be on hand to entertain fans throughout the game. For tickets, call 564-8550, visit www.IowaNBA.com or stop by the arena box office.
