BAKERSFIELD, April 3, 2012 - Juan Pattillo made two clutch free-throws in the final seconds of the game to seal a Bakersfield Jam (28-20) victory over the Iowa Energy (25-23) by a final score of 90-87.
Bakersfield led by ten at halftime (55-45), but Iowa rallied in the second half and had a chance to take the lead in with under ten seconds to play. With the Jam clinging to a 88-87 lead, Iowa's Mike Efevberha pulled up from the free throw line only to have his shot deflected by Bakersfield's Renaldo Major. Iowa fouled Juan Pattillo, who made two free throws to extend the Jam lead to 90-87 with 1.0 seconds left. After an Energy timeout, Moses Ehambe had a look at the basket from the top of the key, but the shot was off target as the buzzer sounded. Bakersfield made 57.1% of their attempts from beyond the arc in the game compared to Iowa's 26.3% from three-point range.
Jeremy Wise and reserve Juan Pattillo led the Jam in scoring with 22 points each. Brian Butch recorded his eight double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Efevberha led the Energy with 31 points while Paul Harris added 14 points off the bench.
