Bakersfield Jam News Release

(Bakersfield, Calif., November 25, 2009) - The Bakersfield Jam announced today that Chris Ayer, Ramon Dyer, Benson Callier and Amara Sy have been waived (the latter two due to injury) reducing the roster to 10 players for Friday night's season-opener at Albuquerque.

"This is always the toughest part as a coach," said Jam headman Will Voigt. "Chris and Ramon both demonstrated a great attitude throughout training camp."

Dyer (6'7", 225 lbs) was named Second-Team All-Conference USA in his 2005-06 senior season for Houston, as he scored 12.1 ppg and led the team with 6.1 rpg. He played with the D-League's Albuquerque Thunderbirds during the 2007-08 season and finished with 6.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg and a team-high 41 blocked shots in 50 games.

"Ramon is a tremendous athlete who has already proven that he can play in the D-League," Voigt said of the forward.

Ayer, at 6'10" and 230 lbs, was described by Voigt as, "a skilled big man who will have plenty of opportunities to play somewhere." After four seasons at Loyola Marymount University, where he averaged 9.4 ppg and 6.3 rpg as a senior in 2005-06, he played two seasons in the Japan-BJ League, starting 54 games for the Ryukyu Golden Kings and scoring 13.4 ppg to go with 7.4 rpg and 1.3 bpg.

Callier (6'6", 225 lbs) and Sy, a 6'8", 225-lb French forward whom the Jam selected in the first round pick of the 2009 NBA D-League Draft, were both waived due to injury. The Jam will have the right of first refusal to re-sign both players upon their return to health.

"Amara has a hairline fracture of his left ulna, and some capsular strains," said Jam trainer Tim DiFrancesco. "We expect him to be prepared to play within the next 14 days."
