Springfield Armor Sets Final Roster

SPRINGFIELD, MA Nov. 25, 2009 - The Springfield Armor announced today that two additional players have been waived, setting their final roster at 10. Center, Brayden Billbe, and Forward DeSean White were released in the final cut before Opening Night. Major Wingate, the Armor's Second Round Pick, has not yet reported to camp for personal reasons.

The following is the official roster for the start of the Springfield Armor Inaugural Season:

1. Julian Allen: A 205 lb, 6'4" Guard from Georgia Southern University

2. Craig Austrie: A 185 lb, 6'2" Guard from The University of Connecticut

3. James Cripe: A 250 lb, 7'0" Center from Northern Kentucky University

4. JamesOn Curry: A 195 lb, 6'3" Guard from Oklahoma State University

5. Kentrell Gransberry: A 250 lb, 6'9" Forward/Center from The University of South Florida

6. Adam Harrington: A 210 lb, 6'5" Guard from Auburn University

7. Perrin Johnson: A 215 lb, 6'6" Forward from The University of Louisville

8. Maurice Maxwell: A 190 lb, 6'4" Guard from Goldey-Beacom College

9. Dante Milligan: A 210 lb, 6'4" Forward from The University of Massachusetts

10. Tre Whitted: A 215lb, 6'4" Guard from Marshall University

The Armor are extremely pleased and excited with the group of athletes that have been chosen to start off the first season in franchise history. "DeSean and Brayden are two incredible athletes and I wish them all the best of luck in their future" said Head Coach Dee Brown, "The players that are going to be starting off the season here in Springfield are extremely talented and have proved themselves this past week in camp. We did well against Maine in our pre-season game and I'm excited to see what we will do out on the court on Friday against Iowa."

The Armor team is not only filled with tremendous talent, but also carries with it a lot of local presence. Both Dante Milligan as Maurice Maxwell played for UMass within the last 4 years. Craig Austrie, UConn alum and resident of Stamford Connecticut, 2009 NCAA Final Four participant, also makes the final roster, as well as Bernardston, Massachusetts native, Adam Harrington who has played with the Dallas Mavericks as well as the Denver Nuggets.

This weekend, November 27-28, the Armor take on the Iowa Energy in the first regular season game in Springfield Armor history. The matchup against Iowa this weekend will have strong

local flavor. In addition to the local talent that the Armor supply, including Dante Milligan, Craig Austrie, Maurice Maxwell and Adam Harrington, the Energy are bringing along 2004 UConn NCAA National Championship participant, Rashad Anderson.

Opening Night, proudly presented by Six Flags of New England, on November 27th at 7 p.m., will be a red carpet event complete with non-stop family-style entertainment, along with contest opportunities, giveaways and much more for those in attendance. Six Flags of New England will be bringing along many familiar characters to greet fans as they enter the arena. Also featured in this historic event is a pre-game presentation involving the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, and at halftime, The Workshop, a dance group out of Springfield, MA, will perform.
