Bakersfield Dealing Continues
August 4, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. â The Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL have swapped players today with the Texas Wildcatters, sending the rights to C Andrew Ianiero to the American Conference opponent for the rights to RW Ashlee Langdone. Neither player is currently under contract.
Langdone, 24, first found infamy in the professional ranks in the West Coast Hockey League with the Condors biggest rival, the San Diego Gulls. He played in parts of three seasons with San Diego, leading the WCHL in penalty minutes in 2001-02 with a whopping 514 (over 170 more than the next closest player). In addition, he served brief stints in the United Hockey League and Quebec Senior League. He played last season with the Wildcatters, scoring 9g-20a-29pts in 65 games. He finished fourth in the league with 304 penalty minutes, and in his four-year professional career he has 58 points and 1,419 PIM.
In exchange, the Condors deal the rights to Ianiero, who finished second on the team in scoring with 56 points in 62 games. He also led the team with a +13 defensive rating.
"We're looking for this kid to spend a little more time on the ice and be a presence," said Head Coach Marty Raymond. "If he had 300 penalty minutes and 30 points last season, imagine what he could do if he concentrated a little more on the rest of his game. He's big and he can skate and that's what we were looking for."
The deal for Langdone comes on the heels of yesterday's trade with the Alaska Aces. In that transaction, the Condors acquired the rights to RW Bret DeCecco.
Stats for Langdone are listed below. The Condors have seven players under contract, with David Kudelka, Ryan Gillis, Ryan Coole and Guy Dupuis on the blueline and Paul Rosebush, Martin Streit, and Todd Alexander at forward. The 2004-05 Bakersfield Condors season opens in 82 days at home on October 22nd against the expansion Victoria Salmon Kings. Ticket packages are on sale now for as low as $48. Contact the BSE office at 324-PUCK (7825) for more information.
