Johnstown Chiefs News Release
Johnstown, PA- The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that Vice-President and General Manager Jim Brazill's contract has been extended through the 2005-06 season.
"I want to thank (owners) Rick Adams and Neil Smith for giving me this opportunity. We accomplished great things last season and hope to build on our success," said Brazill. "We will continue to work hard to make sure the Chiefs are in Johnstown for a long time to come."
Brazill, 34, is the elder statesman in the Chiefs organization as he is entering his 12th year with the team and second as Vice-President and General Manager. He has previously held the roles of Director of Business Operations, Assistant General Manager, Director of Ticketing, and Director of Sales. He is the Chiefs fourth General Manager in the 17 year history of the franchise.
"Jim has been with the team a long time and has done so many great things for the Chiefs. We are very confident in his leadership of the team as we continue to build on our success from the 2003-2004 season," said Adams.
In June, Brazill was named one of three runners-up for the ECHL Executive of the Year as the Chiefs set franchise records on and off the ice in 2003-2004. They increased attendance by 14% from the year before as 91,837 fans came through the turnstiles, including six sellouts, and the largest crowd ever to witness a Chiefs regular season game (4,191; 11/14/03 vs. Wheeling).
The Chiefs set records with 45 wins, 97 points, fewest goals allowed (195), 26 home wins and 19 road victories. The Chiefs went 28-6-4 in their last 38 games finishing in fourth place in the division, three points out of second place, forcing a one game wild card game where they lost to the Reading Royals.
A native of Johnstown, Brazill resides in Upper Yoder Township with his wife Jill and sons Connor (10) and Dominic (1).
Season ticket packages and flex plans are now available by calling the Chiefs office at (814) 539-1799 or 1-800-SLAPSHOT. Opening night is scheduled for Saturday, October 23rd when the Chiefs host the Wheeling Nailers at 7:00 p.m.
