BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, will play two home games at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard this weekend. The Sound Tigers will host the Wilkes-Barr/Scranton Penguins in a key East Division contest tomorrow, Friday, March 25th, at 7:35 p.m. They will also host the Hartford Wolf Pack this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Both games will be web cast live at www.soundtigers.com.
Friday's game will be the Sound Tigers' eighth and final versus Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this regular season. The Sound Tigers are 3-4 in the season series with the Penguins who occupy the fourth and final playoff spot in the division with 80 points and a 34-20-6-6 record after blanking the Hamilton Bulldogs 1-0 on the road Wednesday.
Saturday's contest versus Hartford will be the tenth and final in the 2004-05 "Geico Connecticut Cup", which Hartford clinched with a 2-1 home win on March 11th. Season subscribers of both teams have enjoyed specially-discounted tickets prices in the opposing city this year; Wolf Pack subscribers should present their season-ticket-holder identification card in-person at the Arena at Harbor Yard box office.
Saturday will also be "Back to the Beach Night". The first 2,000 fans who enter "Back to the Beach Night" will receive a Sound Tigers beach towel courtesy of Bermuda Tourism. One fan will also win a trip for two to Bermuda flying on American Airlines and staying at the 9 Beaches resort for seven days and six nights.
The Sound Tigers will play four games in five days next week, all of which have playoff implications. They will visit the Norfolk Admirals, who are currently in third place in the division, next Wednesday, March 30th and Friday, April 1st, as well as the Hershey Bears, who are just in front of the Sound Tigers in fifth place in the division, next, Saturday, April 2nd. The Sound Tigers will host the Binghamton Senators, who are currently tied with the Philadelphia Phantoms for first place in the division, on Sunday, April 3rd at 4:05 p.m.
