Saturday, June 27, 2015 - Game #73 - Road Game #36

Canal Park - Akron, OH - 7:05 PM

LAST GAME: The Harrisburg Senators used four eighth inning runs to break the tie and beat the Binghamton Mets, 7-3, Friday night at NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton used the long ball for some early offense, as Brock Peterson launched his fourth home run of the season in the second inning. An inning later, Josh Rodriguez hit his league leading 13th home run to tie the game at three. The score would remained tied until the eighth inning, where Akeel Morris allowed four runs in 1/3 of an inning for his first loss as a B-Met. Seth Lugo earned a no-decision in the start, remaining winless since May 5th.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Gabriel Ynoa is making his 13th start of the year and the second against Akron. He made his season debut at Canal Park, shutting out the RubberDucks over seven innings. Most recently, Ynoa allowed two runs in 6.2 innings against New Hampshire. He has won back-to-back starts for the first time since last July. The two wins have followed a winless stretch of six starts. It's his fourth straight start on the road, where he has worked to a 5.13 ERA. Ynoa has a 5.79 ERA in his nine starts at night.

AKRON STARTER: RHP Adam Plutko is making his sixth start with Akron and the first of his career against Binghamton. He's coming off his first loss, having allowed three runs in seven inning against Erie. Five of his six starts have come at Canal Park, including his last four. Righties are batting .173 against Plutko. He has allowed three runs or less in each of his first five starts. Plutko began the year with Lynchburg (A+), where he went 4-2 with a 1.27 ERA in eight starts. It's his second season in Cleveland's organization after being selected in the 11th round.

LOSING STREAK: A loss Saturday would tie the B-Mets longest losing streak of the season (four). Binghamton last lost four games from May 24-27, including the first two against the RubberDucks.

OFFENSIVE SLUMP: Binghamton has five runs and 20 hits in their last 29 innings played. The B-Mets are batting .202 during that time, including 2-for-17 with men in scoring position. Four of the five runs have come on home runs.

AKRON PITCHING: The RubberDucks have allowed more than four runs just once in their last 14 games. Akron leads the league in ERA (3.02) and have blown just four saves this season, the lowest in the EL. The B-Mets are batting .228 against Akron in the 11 meetings this year, averaging 3.5 runs a game. Binghamton has still managed to win seven of the first 11 matchups. This is the final series between these two teams this season.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME: The B-Mets have the third worse home record (18-19) in the EL, only ahead of the two last place teams (Erie & Portland). Meanwhile, Binghamton is tied for the best road record in the league (19-16) with Altoona, who currently holds the top record in the EL.

POWER SURGE: Binghamton has 12 home runs in their 14 games, homering in 10 of them. The B-Mets are 23-13 when hitting a home run this season, but have lost their last two.

VS. WEST: Binghamton is in a stretch of 11 straight games against the West. The B-Mets are 18-18 vs. the Western division this season.

RBI DROUGHT: LJ Mazzilli has not driven in a run in 22 games. It's the longest drought of his career, surpassing a nine-game stretch from 2014. Mazzilli is 2-for-23 (.087) when batting with RISP this season. Mazzilli is batting .357 in his last 10 games, pinch-hitting for the first time in his career Friday night.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their series with Akron Sunday afternoon at 2:05. RHP Luis Cessa gets the start against RHP Will Roberts.
