Richmond Flying Squirrels News Release

Hardware City, CT - The Richmond Flying Squirrels and New Britain Rock Cats attempted to beat a massive weather system making its way up the East Coast at New Britain Stadium on Saturday night. They successfully completed three scoreless innings before continuing play became impossible due to strengthening rain. The game will be resumed on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. and be played to its conclusion. A seven-inning game will follow to comprise game two of the series.

Lefty Matt Lujan worked three perfect innings including four strikeouts prior to the suspension. Right-hander Shane Carle matched him with three no-hit innings. Neither team has announced which reliever will be on the hill upon the resumption.

Richmond RHP Joe Biagini (6-4, 1.97) will make the start against New Britain RHP Matt Flemer (3-3, 3.42) in the second game of the series. The Flying Squirrels Pregame Warmup will begin at 1 p.m. on Fox Sports 910 and FoxSportsRichmond.com.
