LAST GAME: Juan Centeno and Allan Dykstra each drove in three runs to lead the Binghamton Mets past the Harrisburg Senators in a 7-2 win Sunday. The B-Mets pounded out 15 hits in the rubber match, securing their second straight series victory. Six different B-Mets collected multiple hits, with Centeno, Wilmer Flores and Sean Kazmar leading the charge with three each. Binghamton jumped out to a lead against starter Paul Demny with a four-run third inning. Centeno capped the rally with a three-run triple. Cory Mazzonicollected his fifth win, allowing one run on six hits over five innings. Jeff Kaplan, Adam Kolarek and Ryan Fraser combined to allow one run over four innings of relief. The B-Mets tacked on three more runs against relievers Brian Broderick and Rafael Martin.
STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Gonzalez Germen (6-9, 4.80) makes his 15th start of the season and second against the Fisher Cats. Germen is in the midst of a personal three-game losing streak, tied for the longest this season. He suffered the loss in his last start to the New Britain Rock Cats in the second game of a doubleheader on August 7. He was tagged for six runs on six hits and three walks over five innings. Germen earned his first Double-A win against New Hampshire on May 11, surrendering three runs and scattering eight hits over seven innings.
RHP Brandon Morrow (1-0, 3.60) makes his second rehab appearance with the Fisher Cats. Morrow went 7-4 with a 3.01 ERA in thirteen starts with the Toronto Blue Jays (AL) before landing on the disabled list with an oblique injury in mid-June. Morrow defeated the Erie SeaWolves in his first rehab start with New Hampshire on August 8. He allowed two runs on three hits over five innings. Originally selected by the Seattle Mariners as the 5th overall pick in the 2006 draft, Morrow was traded to the Blue Jays in December 2009 in exchange for Johermyn Chavez and Brandon League.
THE PLAYOFF PUSH: The B-Mets sit fourth in the Eastern Divison, a position they have held uninterrupted since May 2. Binghamton sits six games out of second place with 21 games to play. Over their final three weeks, the B-Mets will play eight games against teams above them in the standings and ten games versus teams under .500. Binghamton has not made the postseason since 2004.
LEAGUE HONORS: B-Mets starter Mark Cohoon was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week on Monday. He earned the recognition for his two-hit complete game shutout of the Harrisburg Senators on August 10. Cohoon took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and struck out a season-high ten batters to lead the B-Mets in a 5-0 win. Cohoon is the fourth B-Met this season to win a weekly league award, joining the ranks of Greg Peavey, Josh Rodriguez and Matt den Dekker.
FLOR-ING IT: B-Mets infielder Wilmer Flores has hit safely in a season-high four straight games. He has collected three of his six three-hit games during the stretch. Overall Flores has hit .556 (10-for-18) with two doubles and two RBI during the four-game stretch.
OFFENSE ROLLING: The B-Mets have gone 4-1 in their least five games and hit .318 as a team. They have averaged just under 11 hits per game during the stretch. Wilmer Flores leads the charge with a .455 average (10-for-22) with five runs scored.
