LAST GAME: The B-Mets offense supplied 14 hits and the pitching staff combined for a season-high 15 strikeouts in a 9-2 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats last night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Trailing by one with two outs in the sixth, Juan Lagares stroked a bases-loaded, two-run single to give the B-Mets the lead for good. Binghamton added an insurance run in the seventh and five more in the ninth. Lagares' hit made a winner of Zack Wheeler in his return from the disabled list. He struck out seven over five innings. Armando Rodriguezmatched a season-high with five strikeouts over two scoreless innings and Jeff Kaplan collected his first career Double-A save with two shutout innings of relief.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Gonzalez Germen (0-1, 7.50) makes his second Double-A start. The righty was promoted from St. Lucie (High-A) on May 4 to fill-in for Zack Wheeler during his DL stay. In his debut against the Harrisburg Senators on May 4, the righty matched a B-Mets starting pitcher season-high with nine strikeouts, but allowed five runs on six hits and three wild pitches in the second inning in a loss. Germen went 3-0 with a 3.04 ERA in five games (four starts) in the Florida State League before his promotion. Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of La Romana, Dominican Republic in October 2007, German began his pro career in the DSL.

RHP Deck McGuire (1-4, 6.40) takes the mound for his seventh start of the year and third against the B-Mets. The righty took his first no-decision in his previous start versus the Trenton Thunder on May 5. He allowed two runs on four hits and struck out four over six innings in a game the Fisher Cats won 7-6 in 10 innings. In two starts versus the B-Mets, McGuire has gone 1-1 with a 6.52 ERA. He allowed just one hit over 6.2 scoreless innings against B-Mets at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on April 18. McGuire was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1st round as the 11th overall pick in the 2010 draft out of Georgia Tech. Last year, his first pro season, he made 18 starts with Dunedin (High-A) before making three starts with New Hampshire to close the season.

POWER OUTAGE: Although the B-Mets collected 14 hits, none were home runs. It was their sixth-straight game without a long-ball, the longest drought since they went seven games without one from August 19-25, 2009. Their last longball was hit by Raul Reyes on May 3 against the Akron Aeros, a stretch spanning six games, 63.1 innings and 259 plate appearances. Reyes' home run is Binghamton's only one in the month of May.

SOMETHING ABOUT THE FISHER CATS: Manager Pedro Lopez became the first B-Met to be ejected this season when he was tossed by home plate umpire Brian de Brauwere in the fourth inning last night. Binghamton had 11 ejections in 2011, four of which came during games against the Fisher Cats.

FLIPPING THE SCRIPT: After collecting a total of just four hits after the third inning in their two-game series against the New Britain Rock Cats, the B-Mets racked up 13 hits in the fifth inning or later last night. Six of those hits came in their five-run ninth.

BASES-LOADED RELIEF: Juan Lagares' single in the sixth inning last night was Binghamton's first hit with the bases loaded since Jefry Marte singled with them loaded on April 28, a stretch of 11 games. Binghamton had gone 0-for-11 with the bases loaded during the drought.

STRIKEOUTS GALORE: Zack Wheeler, Armando Rodriguez and Jeff Kaplan combined to strike out a season-high five Fisher Cats last night. It was the most strikeouts the B-Mets have collected in a game since five pitchers struck out 15 Akron Aeros on April 9, 2011.

STRETCHING 'EM OUT: Last night was Binghamton 12th game this season lasting longer than three hours.
