Coastal Bend Aviators News Release
Robstown, Texas â Three thousand two hundred and fifty-five fans were on hand as the Aviators took their second in a row from the San Angelo Colts and witnessed Beautiful Bobby Dean defend his title in World Championship Midget Wrestling after the game. Brian Langen picked up the win for the Aviators going eight innings and improving his record to 6-3. David Kuiper suffered the loss for the Colts to bring his record to 2-5. Former San Angelo Colt Gilbert Landestoy pitched a scoreless 9th inning for Coastal Bend.
San Angelo loaded the bases with no outs early in the top of the first inning and captured an early 1-0 lead when Andy Wilson scored on a single by Peanut Williams, but that would be all the Colts would receive from Aviators starter Brian Langen.
Coastal Bend answered with a run in the bottom of the inning as Carlos Adolfo doubled to start it all off and scored on a single from Cris Colon. The Aviators brought in two more runs in the bottom of the second as Edwin Maldonado scored on a sacrifice fly by Coastal Bend second baseman Mark Bugger and Carlos Adolfo scored on a double by Aviators centerfielder Eric Battersby, his thirteenth double of the season. Another Coastal Bend run crossed the plate in the bottom of the third when Aviators left fielder Mann Mann singled to start off the inning and scored on a double by Jermaine Swinton, his sixth since joining the Aviators in mid-July.
The score remained 4-1 until the bottom of the sixth when Maluchnik started the inning off with a double off of the left field wall, advanced to third on a single by Carlos Adolfo and then scored on a ground out by Eric Battersby. Coastal Bend scored their second run of the inning when a ground ball hit by Aviators third baseman Cris Colon was misplayed by Colts second baseman Andy Wilson, allowing Adolfo to score.
The Aviators play the final game of the three game series tomorrow night at Aviators Stadium. Don't miss your chance to register for a free 4-day Carnival Cruise to Cozumel brought to you by Litton Travel and Treasures! Rickey Lewis (5-4) will get the call for Coastal Bend while the Colts send Rick Krivda (0-0) to the mound. Game time is 6:05 p.m.
