Aviators Edge Wild Things 4-3 in 13 Innings

Devon Rodriguez' run scoring double in the top of the 13th proved to be the game winning hit as the Rockford Aviators (14-4) beat the Washington Wild Things (8-10) 4-3 in Frontier League baseball action Thursday night at Consol Energy Park in Washington, PA.

Starter Tony Rizzotti turned in another fine performance as he limited the Wild Things to just two unearned runs in seven innings. Rizzotti retired the last 14 hitters he faced before the Rockford Bullpen took over to hold the Wild Things to just one more run in the 12th after the Aviators had scored in their half to take a 3-2 lead. Michael Schaub (1-0) posted the win with David Russo picking up his first save. Steve Messner (0-1) took the loss in relief for Washington.

The Aviators continue their road trip with a three game weekend set against the Windy City Thunderbolts starting on Friday (7:05 pm) in Crestwood, Il. Rockford returns home to host the Lake Erie Crushers on Tuesday, June 9th (6:35 pm) for the start of a six game homestand at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park, IL.
