Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday announced that center Sean Avery has been assigned by the Detroit Red Wings to the American Hockey League team.
In four games with the Griffins prior to his Oct. 25 recall to Detroit, the 22-year-old Avery recorded one goal, two assists and eight penalty minutes. He is expected to be in the Griffins' lineup this afternoon when they host the Manitoba Moose in a noon start at Van Andel Arena.
Avery has appeared in three games with the Red Wings this season, going scoreless with five penalty minutes.
