Austin's Marcus Cousin Signs With Utah

NEW YORK, Mar. 9, 2011 - The Utah Jazz signed center Marcus Cousin of the Austin Toros for the 14th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2010-11 NBA Development League season. Cousin's call-up increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience, including players currently on assignment to their NBA D-League affiliates, to 87.

In 38 games (all starts) with the Toros this season, Cousin averaged 14.7 points and 8.6 rebounds in 29.9 minutes. Cousin has tallied 16 double-doubles this year, and has averaged 17.4 points and 10.2 rebounds in his last five games. In the NBA D-League All-Star Game last month, Cousin scored 19 points in 20 minutes for the West.

Cousin (6-11, 255) appeared in five games with the San Antonio Spurs in the 2010 NBA preseason, averaging 5.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 15.8 minutes. He spent the 2009 NBA Summer League with the Houston Rockets upon finishing his collegiate career at Houston. After transferring from Seton Hall, Cousin played two seasons at Houston, averaging 10.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks as a senior in 2008-09.

Cousin is expected to join the Jazz today, and should be available when Utah plays at Toronto tonight at 7 p.m. ET.
