Toronto Reassigns Alabi to BayHawks

Erie, Pennsylvania, Wednesday, March 9, 2011 - The Toronto Raptors have reassigned center Solomon Alabi (7-1, 250) to their NBA Development League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks. This marks Alabi's third assignment to Erie this season.

During Alabi's first two stints, he appeared in a total of 11 games (all starts) and averaged 8.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 22.1 minutes of play. Alabi is practicing with Erie today at Tullio Arena and will be in uniform for Thursday night's game against the Maine Red Claws.

Alabi, a rookie out of Florida State, has appeared in 10 games this season for Toronto, averaging 4.0 minutes.

An early entry candidate for the 2010 NBA Draft, Alabi was selected in the second round (50th overall) by the Dallas Mavericks, who traded his draft rights to Toronto. Alabi played with the Raptors' 2010 Las Vegas Summer League team, averaging 8.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 18.0 minutes over five games. A native of Nigeria, Alabi played three seasons at Florida State and ranks first all-time in school history in blocks per game (2.1). In 77 games with the Seminoles, Alabi also averaged 9.1 points and 5.4 rebounds, and was an All-ACC Defensive Team selection in both of his full seasons at Florida State.

Erie finishes their six-game homestand on Thursday when they host Maine at 7pm. Thursday's game is a Buck Night, featuring Smith's hot dogs, popcorn soda and beer all just one dollar all game.
