?AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Spurs (16-24), presented by SWBC, fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (29-14), 128-113, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Thursday evening.
Travis Trice led scoring with a season-high 28 points (9-15 FG, 4-8 3FG, 6-6 FT) and a team-high six assists. San Antonio Spurs assignee Chimezie Metu recorded a double-double of 15 points (6-12 FG) and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench.
The Silver and Black began the contest with an 8-0 run. This momentum carried through the quarter, resulting in a 35-27 Spurs lead to finish the period.
Rio Grande Valley was able to battle back in the second, holding the Spurs to 20 points in the quarter for a 64-55 RGV lead heading into halftime.
The Vipers controlled the second half, extending their advantage to as many 19 points. Austin fought back to within eight points in the fourth but were unable to complete the comeback for a final score of 128-113.
For the Vipers, Isaiah Hartenstein recorded 23 points (9-10 FG, 1-2 3FG, 4-5 FT) and Chris Chiozza dished out 18 assists.
