Deng... He Did It Again: Charge Win OT Thriller

CANTON, OH - The Canton Charge (17-23), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, continued their winning ways behind Deng Adel's heroics, downing the Raptors 905 (24-17), 116-114 in overtime Thursday night at the Canton Memorial Civic Center. Trailing 114-112, Adel connected on a heavily contested three pointer as he drew the foul, giving the Charge the 115-114 lead with .4 seconds remaining. He made the subsequent free-throw as the Charge rattled off their fifth straight victory, winning 116-114.

Adel, who spent 25 games with the Raptors 905 before signing with the Cavs on Jan. 15, finished with a team-high 20 points and 10 rebounds, recording his second double-double of the season with the Charge. Trailing at the half in four of the last five games, the Charge rallied in the second half to force overtime. Malik Newman provided a spark off of the bench for the Wine & Gold, netting 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting in 30 minutes. Jaron Blossomgame and Levi Randolph each scored 17 points. Sir'Dominic Pointer continued his strong play, scoring 11 points while grabbing five boards in relief. The Charge reserves outscored the 905 bench 49-28.

Jordon Loyd led all scorers with 25 points for the 905. Derek Cooke Jr. notched his sixth double-double in his last seven contests with 18 points and 15 rebounds in 36 minutes. After missing the three previous games while playing for Team USA as part of FIBA qualifying, 905 guard Josh Adams returned to the starting lineup with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists.
