?AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Spurs (5-4), presented by SWBC, defeated the Maine Red Claws (2-6), 109-104, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Friday evening. With the victory the Spurs have now won three in a row.
?Jeff Ledbetter paced the Spurs with 26 points (8-15 FG, 4-11 3FG, 4-4 FT) in 29 minutes. Amida Brimah notched his third double-double of the season with 12 points (4-5 FG) and 12 rebounds, adding five blocks in the process.
The Spurs started the contest strong, jumping out to a 12-point lead midway through the first quarter. The Spurs held the lead throughout the first half, but a late push by the Red Claws resulted in a 58-56 Red Claws lead heading into the half. Maine maintained their lead in the third, but a 13-5 Spurs run to finish the third quarter cut the lead to just three. The fourth quarter fostered five lead changes and three ties, but sound free throw shooting by Jeff Ledbetter and Nick Johnson with a clutch block by Amida Brimah secured the win for the Spurs with a final score of 109-104.
The Spurs shot 52.9 percent from the floor, compared to the Red Claws 48.2 percent. The Spurs are undefeated (4-0) when outshooting opponents.
?PJ Dozier led the Red Claws in scoring with 26 points (10-18 FG, 3-5 3FG). Walter Lemon Jr. poured in 25 points (12-22 FG), five rebounds, and five assists.
