Austin FC Unveils Club's First-Ever Primary Jersey
November 18, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Austin FC News Release
Austin, Texas - Austin FC, the 27th Club in Major League Soccer (MLS), has unveiled its first-ever primary jersey ahead of the Club's inaugural season in 2021. Austin FC's signature verde and black identity is prominently established in a vertical stripe pattern. The pattern is a reinforcement of the two intertwined oak trees featured within the Club crest -- representing the Club and the City -- which grow stronger together. The 2021 primary jersey, manufactured by adidas, projects the vibrancy and creative energy of Austin through the distinctive bright verde and black colors, while paying tribute to the legacy of vertical stripes in classic kit designs globally across generations. Fans interested in purchasing Authentic and Replica editions of Austin FC's first-ever jersey in men's, women's, and youth styles, may do so immediately through participating retail locations.
The 2021 Austin FC primary jersey launched with an innovative reveal that featured a collection of Austinites who presented the jersey as "the Uniform for Austin". The newly revealed jersey proudly displays Austin FC's Official Jersey Partner, YETI, emblazoned across the center of the jersey. The Authentic version of the jersey features distinct design elements, including a supporter-inspired jock tag design created in partnership with Austin Anthem. The design proclaims 2021 as the year in which the Club will establish itself in MLS in a city affectionately known as "ATX", the three-letter abbreviation for Austin, Texas. The second design component found on the Authentic jersey is revealed in the neck tape with the script "ESTAMOS LISTOS", signaling the Club is ready to represent Austin. Austin FC's Official Jersey Sleeve Partner, Netspend, will showcase on the right sleeve of Authentic jerseys sold at select retail locations.
"The reveal of Austin FC's first-ever primary jersey is another milestone in the development of our Club as we prepare for our inaugural season in 2021," commented Andy Loughnane, Austin FC President. "This jersey embodies the verde identity of our Club and our City, and we believe it will soon become a mainstay for Austinites."
"To launch our first-ever primary jersey, we deployed a reveal that aligns it with the people that make Austin the city we love," added James Ruth, Senior Vice-President of Marketing for Austin FC. "We worked with Austinites who embody the spirit, creativity and passion that is the heart and soul of Austin. Each of the people featured opened their doors to Austin FC, allowing us to imagine what our jersey would look like if it were their uniform. In doing this, we aimed to highlight the bond that is growing between Austin FC and this town. We are proud to unveil our first-ever primary jersey in a way that is so connected with Austin."
Austin FC fans have been signing up to be first to get the jersey from the Verde Van, Austin FC's new mobile retail shop. Austin FC's Verde Van will be at locations throughout Austin from Wednesday, November 18 through Saturday, November 21.
