Austin FC News Release

Austin, TEXAS - Austin FC fell 2-1 against Portland Timbers on Sunday night at Q2 Stadium. The match attendance of 20,738 marked the 50th consecutive MLS home sellout for the Club, extending the league's longest active streak.

Austin started the better of the two teams. Emiliano Rigoni's strike was called back for offside in the first minute, and Gyasi Zardes' header hit the post moments after. Zardes then flashed another shot inches wide of the frame in the 24th minute.

Portland took the lead against the run of play in the 39th minute, when Felipe Mora was in the right place at the right time to put away a loose ball in the box. The Timbers added another in the second half as Evander finished from close range, but Sebastián Driussi brought the Verde & Black back into the match, scoring his team-high ninth goal of the season with 15 minutes remaining.

Austin continued to push in the closing moments, but were ultimately unable to find the tying goal.
