Austin FC News Release
Washington, D.C. - Danny Hoesen, Sebastián Driussi, and Ruben Gabrielsen each scored in the final 10 minutes as Austin FC erased a two-goal deficit in incredible fashion to earn a 3-2 comeback win against D.C. United on Saturday evening at Audi Field.
Austin nearly opened the scoring 15 minutes into the match. Maxi Urruti plucked the ball off D.C. goalkeeper Bill Hamid, but slipped as he shot and fired over.
11 minutes later, Kamara gave the hosts the lead, finishing from 10 yards out. The Verde & Black thought they'd found the equalizer after the half-hour mark through Diego Fagundez, only to see the goal chalked off for an offside player during the build-up.
Kamara doubled his tally and D.C.'s lead in the 40th minute, with Julian Gressel providing the assist for the second time. Before halftime though, Kamara was sent off for his second yellow card, a cynical foul on Sebastián Driussi.
ATXFC displayed improved throughout the second half, and got a goal back in the 80th minute when Hoesen tucked away an excellent cross from Diego Fagundez. Five minutes later, Driussi popped up at the back post to slam home a cross from Hector Jimenez, and Gabrielsen headed in the winner in the 90th minute to complete an amazing come-from-behind victory.
