Austin Bold FC Signs Forward Clayton Adams

AUSTIN, Texas - Austin Bold FC announced today the signing of forward Clayton Adams for the 2019 USL Championship season following an outstanding showing at the ABFC regional open tryout held in Bettendorf, Iowa. The signing is pending league and federation approval.

"Clay is very fast on the ball, strikes the ball with quality and has a good vision of the game with the ability to combine these qualities in high-speed situations," said Austin Bold FC Head Coach Marcelo Serrano. "If he can perform like this in the professional ranks, we're going to have a great player."

Adams was one of over 180 players who competed in the open tryouts held in Austin on Nov. 9-11 and in Iowa on Dec. 15-16 that were looking to earn a spot on the Austin Bold FC roster.

"Signing a player from an open tryout shows how complex the recruiting system can be," said ABFC General Manager Roberto Silva. "It keeps the hope alive for all the players out there who working to become professional players."

Adams spent last season with the Georgia Revolution FC, where he was a teammate of ABFC forward Promise Isaac. The 24-year-old Adams opened the season with the GA Revs Reserves and secured a promotion to the senior squad after registering five goals and four assists in his first six appearances.

A native of Slidell, La., Adams played one season of high school soccer at Spring Grove High School in Pennsylvania before moving to Warner Robins, Ga., where he played three seasons of club ball in the Central Georgia Soccer Association.

With the addition of Adams, Austin Bold FC has announced a total of 21 players (Faris Abdi, Xavier Báez, Edson Braafheid, Darío Conca, Thomas de Villardi, Fabien Garcia, Kléber Gladiator, Sonny Guadarrama, Promise Isaac, André Lima, Calum Mallace, Sean McFarlane, Diego Restrepo, Marcelo Saragosa, Valeri Saramutin, Jermaine Taylor, Ryan Thompson, Jorge Troncoso, Kris Tyrpak, London Woodberry) for the 2019 inaugural season. The club will announce additional player signings in the coming weeks.

On Oct. 24, the club broke ground on Bold Stadium, a 5,036-seat soccer-specific stadium to be located adjacent to the Grand Plaza at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), the premier destination for entertainment and motorsports in the United States. The stadium is the first soccer-specific stadium built in Central Texas and has been engineered to provide an outstanding experience for both fans and players ahead of the Bold's inaugural Spring 2019 season.

Austin Bold FC is preparing for its inaugural USL Championship season in 2019. Preseason activities are underway and the regular season will kick off on March 9.
