November 15, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Austin Bold FC News Release
The Austin Bold's very own Casey Walls has been called up by the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team for the upcoming Revelations Cup in Celaya Mexico from Nov. 7-17 where they will face Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico.
"It's always an honor to one, be recognized and selected by the National team for club performances," said Casey Walls. "Bold gave me an opportunity this season to log some professional minutes and prepare for this type of setting and I'm thankful for the staff for taking me in and rewarding me with those chances in a professional environment. I'm excited for the opportunity to compete with and against some of the best young players in the world at this tournament."
Walls, 18, earned a Homegrown Player contract with the Earthquakes in 2019 after playing up for the Quakes academy's U19 squad. He was loaned out to Austin Bold FC in 2021, where he began to get regular first-team play. Walls participated in 15 games after making his debut on the road against Rio Grande Valley FC. The defender started in six matches, including an assist against Real Monarchs SLC.
"We are happy for Casey in his career path and we are glad we could be a great help for his professional growth and success," said Marcelo Serrano, Austin Bold FC Sporting Director. "We need to thank Jesse Fioranelli and Bruno Costa that initiated the agreement and the development with Bold FC and also Chris Leitch and Brett Karleeen that continued the loan and developmental path process with us."
This will be the team's first U-20 training camp of the cycle as it prepares for the Concacaf Men's U-20 Championship in 2022, which will serve as a qualifier for both the FIFA Men's U-20 World Cup in Indonesia and the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
