Austin Bold FC News Release

Austin, TX - Austin Bold FC adds goalkeepers Zachary Kos and Edward Alonzi to academy contracts for the remainder of the 2020 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, contract terms will not be released.

"Edward and Zack are two young and talented goalkeepers who are very passionate about the position and the sport. I'm happy that Austin Bold FC is a place where they can get an opportunity to develop further and refine all the talent they possess," said Austin Bold FC Assistant Coach Ryan Thompson. "We want them not just to become better goalkeepers but better human beings as well."

Kos joined the Austin youth soccer community early playing recreationally at the age of four with Austin United Capitals. After Austin United Capitals merged with Lonestar SC, Kos worked his way into Lonestar SC's Select Program for the 2014/15 season. The 16-year old goalkeeper was a part of Lonestar SC's ECNL and U17/U19 DA sides. For two years, Kos played with James Bowie High School Boys Soccer in Southwest Austin.

At five years old, Alonzi began his playing career with Lonestar SC in their recreational clubs before being promoted to Lonestar SC's U12 DA program. Alonzi stayed within Lonestar SC's DA sides until the nation-wide folding of the Developmental Academy program by U.S. Soccer.

The signing of Kos and Alonzi strengthens Austin Bold FC's organization-wide initiative to develop soccer in Austin by giving youth players the opportunity for professional training in their hometown. The two goalkeepers join other Austin natives Sonny Guadarrama, Kris Trypak, Beto Avila, and Nathaniel Adamolekun at Austin Bold FC.
