
Auger Leads Wildcats to Road Win on the Island

The Wildcats short 2-game losing streak ended with a decisive 6-2 victory over the Islanders before 2,600 fans at Charlottetown's Eastlink Centre.
Winger Thomas Auger led the way, setting up three goals. A highlight of the night was rookie defenseman Adam Fortier-Gendron scoring his 1st QMJHL goal. Other Moncton tallies to Max Barbashev (16), Yoan Loshing (14), Alexis Daniel (9), Gabe Smith (2), and Vincent Labelle (10).
The Wildcats held end of period leads of 2-0 and 5-1 and outshot the Islanders 30 to 22.
Defenseman Natan Grenier also returned to the Cats lineup after an injury.
Moncton improves to 17-14-0-2. There's one game remaining - New Year's Eve in Saint John against the Sea Dogs to close out 2022. Game time is 2pm at TD Station.
Next week, the Wildcats visit the Eagles in Cape Breton Wednesday night, before returning home to host Rimouski Saturday, January 7 at 7pm and Charlottetown Sunday, January 8 at 4pm at Avenir Centre.
