Stephane Huard Jr Dealt to Shawinigan
December 30, 2022 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Halifax Mooseheads News Release
Halifax Mooseheads General Manager Cam Russell cleared up the 20-year-old, overage situation on the roster on Friday by dealing Stephane Huard Jr to the Shawinigan Cataractes for an 8th Round draft pick in 2025.
The trade gets the Mooseheads back in compliance with the CHL rule of a maximum of three players who are in participating in their 20-year-old season. Newly acquired Alexandre Doucet, Josh Lawrence and Evan Boucher will occupy the overage slots for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.
Huard Jr appeared in 30 games with Halifax after being acquired from Sherbrooke on September 30th in exchange for a 6th Round pick in 2023 and a 14th Round pick in 2025. The forward scored eight goals and added 15 assists and was fifth in team scoring with 23 points, excluding both Doucet and Lawrence who scored the bulk of their points with other teams.
The QMJHL trade period will close on Friday, January 6th.
Halifax continues a road trip tonight at 7pm in Cape Breton before playing the Eagles again on Saturday afternoon at 2pm for a New Year's Eve matinee. The Herd will play an additional road game on Friday, January 6th in Saint John before returning to Scotiabank Centre ice on Sunday, January 8th vs Cape Breton. Tickets are on sale now at TicketAtlantic.com.
