Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
Game 1
HIGHLIGHTS: Kyle Ginley and Patrick McGuigan combined to hold the Cutters to only two hits on their way to a 3-0 victory in the first game of the doubleheader Wednesday night at Historic Bowman Field. RF Shawn Scobee gave the visiting Doubledays some breathing room with a 2-run homerun in the top of the 4th, his first of the season.
Catcher Kris Watts led the Cutters offensively going 1-for-2 with a single. Picking up his first loss of the season was Crosscutter starter Dionis Rodriguez who gave up all three runs on 6 hits. Yoffri Martinez relieved Rodriguez in the 7th, immediately loading the bases with three walks but managing to record a pair of strikeouts and a fly out to get out of the jam.
Game 2
HIGHLIGHTS: The Cutters mounted a comeback scoring three runs in the bottom of the 7th, but it wasn't enough as the Doubledays escaped and took game two of the doubleheader from the Cutters 4-3. Alex Peralta had a pair of RBI's coming up clutch and keeping the Cutters hopes alive as a pinch hitter in the 7th.
The Cutters hit the road tomorrow heading for Mahoning Valley for a two game series with the Scrappers. Their next home game is scheduled for September 4th vs those same Scrappers; game time is set for 7:05 p.m. with the gates opening at 6:05.
