A night after Williamsport beat Auburn in extras, Auburn struck back with a 6-5 win. Tony Renda's RBI-single in the tenth scored Wes Schill for the game-winning run.
Williamsport stranded eleven baserunners in the loss, including six in scoring position.
Roman Quinn went 2-for-5 with an RBI-triple while Cameron Perkins and Trey Ford both had multi-hit games. Perkins also drove in a run.
Matt Sisto picked up the loss for the Cutters. He allowed one run on three hits in two innings of relief.
Carlos Lopez opened the scoring for Auburn on an RBI-single in the second.
Williamsport then tied it in the third when Chris Serritella drew a bases loaded walk.
The Doubledays took back the lead in the fifth on a single to right by Carlos Alvarez before the Cutters scored two in the bottom half to make it 3-2. Diego Gonzalez hit a sac fly to right before Perkins plated Quinn from second on an opposite-field single.
Estarlin Martinez hit a towering home run to left to tie the game in the sixth before Renda drew a bases loaded walk and Larry Greene misplayed a fly ball in left. Three runs in the frame gave the Doubledays a 5-3 lead.
But Williamsport answered in the bottom half off of Elliott Waterman. Quinn had his hardest hit of the year, lining a ball out to the track in left-center for an RBI triple. He was then brought home on an infield hit by Gonzalez.
Sisto, who gave up the game-winning hit to Renda, had come on in relief of Ulises Joaquin and Steven Inch. Joaquin allowed four runs in 5.1 innings, while Inch gave up a run in 2.2 innings of work
