10 hits not enough as Scrappers get swept by State College

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers were unable to avoid being swept by State College despite pounding out 10 hits and 5 runs, falling by a 6-5 final. The loss completed a 3 game sweep by the Spikes. The 10 hits were the most by the Scrappers during the three game series.

The Scrappers fell behind 2-0 after the 1st inning but came back to take a short lived 3-2 lead. Mark Bradley started the 3rd inning with an opposite field single. Charlie Valerio followed with a walk. Juan Romero singled with 1 out to score Bradley. Joe Sever followed Romero with an RBI single to score Valerio. Aaron Siliga finished the scoring when he drove in Romero on an RBI groundout.

Trailing 6-3 entering the 9th, the Scrappers were able to plate 2 runs when Evan Frazar singled home Romero and Siliga. Frazar was stranded on base to end the game. Jake Sisco got the start but did not factor into the decision. Sisco pitched 4 innings, allowing 2 hits and 3 runs, 2 earned. Luis Head relieved Sisco with a tie score in the 5th. Head went 3 innings allowing an earned run. He took the loss, falling to 0-1 on the season.
