Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack have traded forward Daylon Groulx to the Ottawa 67s in exchange for three draft selections.

The 19-year-old from Fort Erie, ON was a 4th round selection in the 2016 OHL draft and has played 169 games for the franchise over the last four seasons, scoring 42 goals and adding 33 assists for 75 points.

The hard-nosed forward is joining the #1 ranked team in the CHL as they make a push for the Memorial Cup. Attack General Manager Dale DeGray says: "It's not easy to move a guy like Daylon. He's a big presence in our room and he's been great for us on the ice. We're sending him to a great organization and we wish him the best of luck." He further adds: "This move is not only going to be good for Groulx, it's going to help clear out some space for our younger forwards that have earned the playing time. We'll be counting on them to step up and fill the hole that Daylon leaving is going to make."

The Attack receive a 3rd round selections, a 4th round selection and a 6th round selection in the deal. The 3rd rounder is Owen Sound's own in 2020, the 4th is Ottawa's 2020 selection and the 6th is Ottawa's 2023 selection. DeGray likes the flexibility the picks offer: "It was key that two of the picks were for this upcoming draft. It gives us a lot of options this spring."

Owen Sound are in Peterborough tonight to meet the Petes, and later this weekend will meet the Ottawa 67s in the nation's capital. It is unclear as of now whether or not Groulx will be in the lineup for the opponents on Sunday afternoon.

The Attack return home next Wednesday to meet the Barrie Colts at the Bayshore. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the MacVicar & McComb Sutton Realty Attack Box Office and online.
