OWEN SOUND, ON - The Owen Sound Attack are ready to drop the puck on the 2026-27 Ontario Hockey League regular season, and the opening weekend will feature a matchup against the defending OHL and Memorial Cup Champion Kitchener Rangers. The two teams will open the home-and-home series in Kitchener on Friday night, before returning home to the Bayshore on Saturday night with both games scheduled for 7pm.
Both games will be carried on Rogers Television Grey County (Channel 53), streamed on FloHockey and heard live on 89.3CFOS.
THE TALE OF THE TAPE
This weekend's home-and-home series with the Rangers will mark the first two of six games the Attack will battle against the Rangers this season. The Attack will look to set the tone for the rest of season with a solid effort against a divisional rival. Throughout the pre-season the Attack have shown that their returning players are ready to take the reins and the next step to becoming an elite competitor in the toughest division in all of junior hockey.
The Attack coaching staff will lean on their veterans this weekend with Pierce Mbuyi, Harry Nansi and Cole Zurawski being called upon to drive the teams offence with the likes of Max Delisle, Lucian Bernat, Wesley Royston and Alex Lisi looking to continue to step up their game and make a difference on opening weekend. The Rangers will have to contest against the Attack's defensive behemoth led by returning d-men Julian Brown, Elliot Arnett, and Slovakian import Roderik Cernak. Behind the defensive line the Rangers will be forced to come face-to-face with one of the top goalies in the Canadian Hockey League with Ryerson Leenders in net for the Attack.
The Rangers will counter with some championship pedigree with forwards Tanner Lam, Luca Romano and Cameron Arquette being expected to carry the bulk of the offensive load. Defensemen Alexander Bilecki and Andrew MacNeill will be tasked with shutting down the Attack offence while goaltender Jason Schaubel will look to take control of the starting role between the pipes.
