Attack Rookies off to U17 Medal Round

After quarterfinal wins on Thursday, Nov. 5, all three members of the Owen Sound Attack that are participating in the World U17 Hockey Challenge are off to the medal round.

Team Canada Red, captained by Attack defenceman Markus Phillips, defeated Team Canada Black in yesterday's first quarterfinal by a score of 3-2 to advance to the medal round.

Phillips' squad will face off against the Russians at 8:00pm EST on Friday, Nov. 6 with a berth in Saturday's gold medal game on the line.

Canada Red and Russia met in the preliminary round, with the Canadians winning 4-3 in overtime.

In Thursday's other quarterfinal, Nick Suzuki and Matthew Struthers helped Team Canada White defeat Team Finland 4-2 to make it a perfect three for three Attack members in the semi-finals

Team Canada White will be tasked with downing Sweden, who upset the tournament favourite Americans in the quarterfinal round.

That game will go at 9:00pm on Friday night.
