Sarnia, Ont. - Alex Nedeljkovic made 40 saves and Flint's Ryan Moore scored 1:11 into overtime to earn the Firebirds a 3-2 victory at the Sarnia Sports & Entertainment Center on Friday night. The win marks the second overtime victory over the Sarnia Sting this season in the two games played between the clubs.

Less than one minute into the game, Sarnia's Connor Schlichting hauled down Flint's Will Bitten on a breakaway. Bitten was awarded a penalty shot and converted top-shelf, right corner past Fazio's left shoulder to give the Firebirds the early lead in addition to his second penalty shot goal against the Sting this season.

At 13:42 of the opening frame, Sarnia's Nikita Korostelev would find the back-of-the-net to tie the game 1-1.

The second period would showcase Nedeljkovic's skills in net as he would turn away all 15 shots he faced during the period, keeping the game even at one-goal a piece. However, early in the third period, Sarnia would take the lead on a rebound goal scored by Troy Lajeunesse from the right side of the cage.

With 5:45 left in regulation Francesco Vilardi would convert on the power-play after whacking the puck out of mid-air on a rebound shot from Josh Wesley tying the game 2-2 and eventually forcing overtime.

The Firebirds would score the game-winning goal on a won faceoff draw in the Sarnia zone at 1:11 of the extra frame. Moore won the draw to Wesley on the wall who found Mathieu Henderson at the point. Henderson blasted the puck on net and Moore picked up the rebound, buring the disc top-shelf for the winning tally.

The Firebirds were one-for-five on the power-play while Sarnia did not convert on four opportunities. Nedeljkovic made 40 saves on 42 shots and was named the first star of the game.
