Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack opened up a three game weekend with a tilt against the Ontario Hockey League Central division leading Mississauga Steelheads. The game heralded as a battle between two offensively talented teams did not disappoint, with both teams showing their offensive prowess. Unfortunately for the home side, it was the Attack coming away with a 5-3 victory. The Attack finished the game with five of players registering two points each.

The game got off to a quick start with the Attack and Steelheads exchanging three goals in the first four minutes. Owen Tippett got it started for the Steelheads beating Mack Guzda at the 1;12 mark of the first period. It only took 25 seconds for overage centre Kevin Hancock to even the score finishing off a nice pass from Daylon Groulx to tie the game at 1. Hancock and Groulx would combine a little under a minute and a half later when Groulx finished off a pass from Aidan Dudas to make it 2-1. Hancock had the second assist on the goal. The first period ended with the Bears holding a 2-1 lead.

In the second period, the Steelheads did not waste any time evening the score up, with Cole Carter capitalizing on an early penalty to the Attack's Daylon Groulx. However, once again the Attack immediately pushed back generating scoring opportunities at the other end of the ice. Maksim Sushko restored the Bears one goal lead just over a minute a later with a sharp shot while coming off the side boards.

The Attack continued to push and at the midway point of the period, Nick Suzuki was sprung loose on a breakaway, unfortunately as a result of a hook from a Steelheads defender which resulted in a delayed penalty, he lost the puck momentarily. Suzuki did not give up on the puck regaining possession and sliding it past Ingham to make it 4-2. The Attack and Steelheads would exchange goals to close out the period with Attack rookie Griffin Wilson tallying his first career OHL goal and Steelheads Richard Whittaker getting his third of the season.

After an offensive filled first two periods the Attack showed the defensive side of their game shutting down the Steelheads in the final 20 minutes to take home their second road victory of the season 5-3 over the Steelheads.

Five Attack players finished the game with two points a piece, with Groulx, Hancock, Sushko and Wilson registering a goal and a assist each and Dudas adding two helpers to his season total.
