Owen Sound Attack News Release
The playoff picture in the Western Conference just may be a little clearer after this weekend and when the dust settles, Attack Head Coach Mark Reeds knows exactly where he wants his squad to be. "This is obviously a big weekend coming up. We have stressed to the players that preparation is key and that every game from here on in is a must win."
Travel should not be much of an issue with the squad as they left Wednesday evening, arriving in Windsor a full day ahead of their Thursday night contest against the Spitfires. Following the game in Windsor, the team will travel to Kitchener where they will stay and prepare for their contest against the Rangers. But nobody on the Attack coaching staff is looking past Thursday night's game. "Windsor is a very talented team and if you give them enough opportunities, they can bury you, especially on the power play.", Reeds stated. "We have to play a physical road game, but also keep our emotions in check if we wish to be successful." The game can be heard live on Grey Motors Bear Radio with Fred Wallace on 560 CFOS or seen live on local Rogers Channel 53 at 7:00pm.
Friday night, the Owen Sound Attack will hit primetime on Rogers Sportsnet against the Kitchener Rangers. The Attack and Rangers are in a tight battle for the MidWest division crown and Friday's contest will go a long way in determining the winner. Both teams will have played 63 games, which makes Thursday's results in Windsor all the more important. The Attack has won four out of five meetings against the Rangers this season, winning all three at home and splitting two decisions on the road. Viewers on any network can tune into Rogers Sportsnet at 7:00pm or listen live with Fred Wallace on Grey Motors Bear Radio.
Saturday evening could be a potential first round playoff match up, pitting the Attack against the London Knights. The Knights have had reasonable success against the Attack this season, winning three out of four contests, two of the three being on home ice for London. The Attack has not lost in regulation on home ice since January 22nd, with their only extra time loss occurring on February 20th vs. Oshawa. Tickets are available by visiting the Attack Box Office in the front lobby of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre, calling the box office at (519) 371-7452 or online by visiting www.attackhockey.com .
