OHL Owen Sound Attack

Attack Falter after Strong Start in Loss to Spitfires

December 9, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release

It's the longest road trip this group of Attack players have had this season and it was a rough start, as the Bears dropped their opening game of the trip 4-1 to the Windsor Spitfires Wednesday night.

Owen Sound started the night strong, controlling the play throughout the first 30 minutes of the game. The Attack were rewarded for their strong start with a 1-0 lead about mid-way through the first 20 minutes, when Cedrick Guindon banged home a loose puck while on top of the crease.

For Guindon it was his second goal and fourth point in the past three games, as he has started to find his game and showcase his skillset in recent weeks.

The Spitfires, who were on their heels throughout the opening frame, were able to even the score while on a power play halfway through the second period. Windsor would build on that momentum and strike quick, as they would go up 2-1 just over two minutes after tying the game.

The Attack found themselves with a full two-minute 5-on-3 power play late in the second, with both Servac Petrovsky, the teams leading scorer among rookies, and Deni Goure, the teams leading scorer, had good looks but could not find the tying goal.

Windsor was quick out of the gate in the third, as they would increase their lead to 3-1 just over two minutes into the frame. Owen Sound would push, but could not solve a stout Windsor defence, as the Attack struggled to gain access into the middle of the ice.

Nick Chenard was solid between the pipes for Owen Sound, making 30 saves and giving his team a chance to comeback in the game.

The Attack's road trip will now move across the boarder to Michigan as they head to Flint for another double-header against the Firebirds (after splitting the first in Owen Sound last weekend). The game Friday night between Owen Sound and Flint is the Kubota CHL Game of the Week, and will be free to view on OHL Live.

Owen Sound will be back in the comfort of the Bayshore next Wednesday, December 15th when they welcome the Kitchener Rangers. Tickets for the game are still available and can be purchased online or at the McVicar and McComb Sutton Reality Box Office.
