OHL Owen Sound Attack

Attack Fall to Colts

September 4, 2011 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack played host to the Barrie Colts in the first leg of their annual Labor Day Weekend showdown this afternoon and came out on the wrong end of a 6-2 final.

The Colts jumped out of the gate hard, scoring the first goal of the game off of Ivan Telegin's stick only 1:36 into the opening frame. Telegin had a chance to put his team ahead by two goals when he was awarded a penalty shot with just over two minutes remaining, but Jordan Binnington was equal to the task and turned aside Telegin's attempt.

The Colts would once again find the board early in the second when Josh MacDonald slipped the puck past Binnington just 4:10 into the frame. The Attack would reply soon there after when Cameron Brace made a fine solo effort to gain the zone and Holden Cook would fire the puck past Colts goaltender Clint Windsor to bring the Attack within one. The home team would pull even when Jake Dotchin rifled the puck past Windsor with Brett Appio drawing the assist.

That would be all of the scoring the Attack would do on this day as the rest of the game was all Barrie. Barrie finished the game with four unanswered goals by Tanner Pearson, Dylan Smoskowitz, Alex Yuill and Mark Scheifele.

The Attack picked up eighteen minor penalties of the day, five of which went to defenseman Matt Petgrave. Clint Windsor stopped 35 of 37 shots for the Colts while Jordan Binnington surrendered all 6 goals against for the Attack.

The Attack is back in action tomorrow evening when they visit the Colts for their annual Labor Day Classic. Game time at the Barrie Molson Centre is 6:00pm.
