Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack & Canadian Cancer Society's Bluewater Office announced Tuesday the winner of the Cubs for Cancer event night Jersey Design Contest winner is eight-year-old Finn Hurley-Johnston of Owen Sound.

November 17, 2018 marks the 2nd Annual Cubs For Cancer event in support of childhood cancer research and support services when the Attack take on the Flint Firebirds. In its Inaugural Year, Cubs For Cancer raised over $51,000 through various fundraising events leading up to game day, where Attack players donned special jerseys designed by a young member of our own community.

This year, the jersey that the Attack players will wear has been designed by young Finn Hurley-Johnston, an eight-year old boy from Owen Sound and captures exactly what Cubs For Cancer is all about. With childhood cancer ribbons, bright colours and stars on a black background with the words "not all heroes wear capes", both the Owen Sound Attack and Canadian Cancer Society are excited to see the final product.

Finn's jersey will be worn by the players at the Cubs for Cancer game on November 17th, and then auctioned off following the game to raise additional funds for childhood cancer.

Long sleeve shirts mocking the jersey design will also be sold at the game, but new this year we will hold a pre-sale online and in-store to get your shirt early! More details on this to come.

The Owen Sound Attack and Canadian Cancer Society are also hosting a Head Shave event on November 8th, and we encourage the community to get involved and raise your own funds for the cause! More information can be found here. This season of Attack Hockey is presented to you by Lerner's Personal Injury Lawyers.
