
Atlanta United Acquires Goalkeeper Dylan Castanheira from Inter Miami CF

ATLANTA - Atlanta United announced today it has acquired goalkeeper Dylan Castanheira via trade from Inter Miami CF in exchange for midfielder Mo Adams.
"Dylan is a goalkeeper we're familiar with from his time at the club and we're pleased to add him to our roster," said Atlanta United Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra. "He will bring quality and competition to our goalkeeper group."
Castanheira, 26, signed with Inter Miami CF on Jan. 27, 2021 and made two starts this season for the club's USL League One team, Fort Lauderdale CF, where he also played during the 2020 season. He made 11 appearances with Fort Lauderdale in 2020, all of them starts, and ranked fifth in USL League One with 44 saves and won Save of the Week three times. On Sept. 3, 2021, he was loaned to San Diego Loyal for the remainder of the USL Championship season and made two starts. Castanheira signed his first professional contract with Atlanta United 2 prior to the 2019 USL Championship season and made 21 appearances.
The Landing, New Jersey native attended Columbia University from 2014 to 2018 where he made 44 appearances and was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year and a two-time First Team All-Ivy League selection while setting the school record for career clean sheets with 25.
Mo Adams was drafted by the Chicago Fire in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft and was traded to Atlanta midway through the 2019 season. He made four MLS appearances with Atlanta in 2019 and scored his first professional goal at LAFC on July 26, 2019. Adams made 13 league appearances with nine starts in 2020 in addition to three appearances and two starts in Concacaf Champions League play. He made six MLS appearances and two starts in 2021. Adams totaled 28 appearances and 14 starts across all competitions during his two and a half seasons with the club and has recorded 48 appearances, 27 starts one goal and two assists in his MLS career.
