The Asheville Tourists scored eight runs on six hits in the first inning, and then held off a Lexington rally in a 12-7 win over the Legends Friday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The loss was the Legends' sixth straight.

Rafael Ortega led off the game with a double. Joey Wong was hit by a pitch and Bryce Massanari followed with his eighth home run of the year, giving the Tourists a 3-0 lead.

After the homer, Kyle Parker walked, and Brett Tanos and Chandler Laurent singled to load the bases. Avery Barnes' double scored two runs. Legends' starter Brad Dydalewicz was then relieved by Ruben Alaniz, who hit Russell Wilson with a pitch to load the bases again. Rafael Ortega's triple scored all three runners and put the Tourists up 8-0.

The Legends came back with two runs in the bottom of the first. With one out, Tyler Burnett and Jiovanni Mier walked. Adam Bailey grounded to Wilson, who threw to shortstop Joey Wong for a force play, but Wong's relay was wide of first for an error, allowing Burnett to score. Mike Kvasnicka doubled, advancing Bailey to third, from where he scored on Emilio King's single.

Chandler Laurent's solo homer in the second gave Asheville a 9-2 lead, but the Legends answered with two in the third. Singles by Bailey, Kvasnicka, and King loaded the bases. Daniel Adamson drove in Bailey with a groundout, and Kvasnicka scored on a wild pitch to cut the Asheville lead to 9-4.

After the teams traded runs in the sixth, the Legends put two more on the board in the seventh. Kvasnicka doubled, Adamson walked, and Roberto Pena doubled to left to score both runners to bring the Legends to within three runs at 10-7.

Mark Tracy's two-run double with two outs in the top of the ninth gave Asheville its final margin.

Craig Bennigson (2-0) who worked two innings after relieving starter Josh Slaats at the start of the fifth inning, earned the victory. Dydalewicz (0-4) was the losing pitcher. Alaniz struck out 10 batters in five and two-thirds innings of relief.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
