
Asheville scores early, often to beat the Power

Charleston, WV (August 3, 2005) - On Wednesday night the Asheville Tourists sent eleven batters to the plate in the top of the first inning and scored seven runs on seven hits to beat the West Virginia Power 10-4 at Appalachian Power Park.
The scoring started with Joe Koshansky's three run homer, his 31st of the year. Later in the inning Chris Nelson and Dustin Hahn contributed with RBI singles and Jeff Dragicevich drove in two runs on a triple. The Power scored three times in the bottom of the third inning on a two run double from Hernan Iribarren and an RBI single from Alcides Escobar. The Power cut the deficit to three in the bottom of the fourth inning on Brendan Katin's solo shot. It remained a 7-4 game until Matt Miller put the icing on the cake in the top of the seventh inning with a three run homer for Asheville.
Ching-Lung Lo (5-7) earned the victory, and Greg Kloosterman (3-16) obtained the loss. The Power are 20-18 in the second half after the loss and the Tourists move to 17-22 with the win.
The Power will continue the four game series against the Asheville Tourists at Appalachian Power Park on Thursday night. The Power will throw right-handed pitcher Mark Rogers (1-7, 4.78) and the Tourists will counter with right-handed pitcher Sam Deduno (6-6, 5.37). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
