Rome, GA - The Rome Braves were defeated by the Asheville Tourists 11-1 Friday night before 2,963 fans. The Tourists scored three runs in the second inning after back to back singles, a sacrifice fly by Taylor Featherson and an RBI single by Rosell Herrera for the 3-0 advantage. As it turned out it would be all the offensive they would need. They added another run in the top of the fourth after Featherson doubled and scored on Herrera's second RBI single of the night to make it 4-0. The Braves only run of the game came off of a William Beckwith (6) solo homerun in the fourth cutting the lead 4-1. The Tourists did the most damage in the sixth inning plating seven, highlighted by a three run homer off the bat of Sam Mende, to nail the Braves fate 11-1.
Daniel Winkler (6-2) would pick up the win for Asheville, pitching seven innings and only giving up four hits, one run and striking out seven Braves hitters. David Filak (2-4) was pegged with the loss.
