
Greensboro Takes Series Lead with 7-3 Win

Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds (21-26) managed just two hits over the first seven innings as the Greensboro Grasshoppers (34-14) took game three of the series 7-3 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Friday night.
The Shorebirds were unable to capitalize on eight walks handed out by Greensboro pitching.
The Grasshoppers jumped to an early lead in the second inning. Ryan Rieger hit a single. Then, Ryan McIntyre drew a walk. James Wooster followed with a double into the right-center field gap to give the Grasshoppers a 2-0 lead. Later in the inning, Terrence Dayleg hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Wooster.
The Shorebirds cut into the deficit in the third. Mychal Givens drew a lead off walk and later scored on a base hit to right field by Nicky Delmonico.
The Grasshoppers extended their lead to 7-1 with two runs in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth. In the fifth, Josh Adams doubled home the second run of the inning and in the sixth, two walks and two hit-by-pitches by Williams Louico led to the runs.
The Shorebirds notched three hits in the eighth inning to slice into the deficit. Delmonico reached on a walk and later scored on a wild pitch by Kevin Cravey. Wynston Sawyer pulled a single through the left side of the infield to score Esposito, which cut the deficit to 7-3.
Cravey retired the top of the Shorebirds lineup in order to end the game in the ninth inning.
Greensboro starter Adam Conley earned the win over five innings. He allowed two hits and one run. Shorebirds starter Eduardo Rodriguez was pinned with the loss. He gave up five hits and three earned runs.
Zach Fowler, who was activated off the Disabled List today, tossed the final 2.1 innings. He allowed just two hits and did not give up a run. Fowler also struck out three.
