Asheville Tourists News Release

The Tourists ran their winning streak to a season-high eight straight after winning the front leg of their twin bill with Rome 6-4. In Game two the Braves played long ball and walked off with a 4-3 win.

Asheville jumped in front 6-0 in the first game before Rome made it interesting late. Harold Riggins and Tyler Massey each delivered two-out RBI base knocks in the fourth while Brian Humphries connected on a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

The T's doubled their lead by scoring three more in the sixth. David Kandilas drilled a two-run double and Taylor Featherston was able to drive in David Kandilas. The Braves had plenty of fight in them however. With two outs and the bases empty in the bottom of the sixth, the Braves rallied for three runs of four straight base hits.

In Game Two, the Tourists rallied for one in the top of the first. Rome answered with the next three runs of the contest; all solo Home Runs. Brandon Drury went deep in the second while Kyle Kubitza and William Beckwith left the yard in the third.

The Tourists rallied for two runs in the sixth and knotted the game 3-3. They might have been able to plate another in the frame, but one of Asheville's three double plays in the game ended the threat.

The Braves put a runner at first with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. A stolen base and a single later, the home team was on the field celebrating their walk-off win.

The two teams are back at it Friday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:00pm.
