Asher Named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week

Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, in conjunction with the Carolina League, have announced that right-hander Alec Asher has been named the league's Pitcher of the Week for August 5-11. Asher received the honor for his performance on Sunday against the Frederick Keys.
The right-hander worked a career-best eight scoreless innings and scattered only three hits to earn his eighth win of the season. Asher walked one and struck out six during the outing.
He is the fourth Pelicans to garner weekly honors this season, joining right-hander Luke Jackson, left-hander Victor Payano and infielder Luis Sardinas.
In the second half Asher, 21, has gone 4-3 with a 3.35 earned run average in nine starts.
